Open Call: Kunstraum Exhibition Program 2020-21
KUNSTRAUM LLC is calling for submissions for our 2020-21 Exhibition Program.
Kunstraum is a community for artists by artists, aiming to redefine the way artists and curators collaborate. Our program seeks to explore the relationships between artists and curators by opening up our gallery space to those interested in exploring unconventional and engaging ideas and taking risks. We look for relevant projects and will assist in their realization.
Please submit a 250-word curatorial proposal. The proposal should detail your concept and include 5-10 jpeg images and links to websites and videos. Preference will be given to proposals featuring a majority of local artists. The deadline for proposals is January 30th, 2020, by midnight. Our team will give notice on the selected proposal by February 15th, 2020.
Our gallery space is a 250 sq. ft. area inside a 1,000 ft. coworking loft, with an additional coworking loft. Each are located at 20 Grand Ave, a beautifully renovated factory building in Clinton Hill/Navy Yard neighborhood of Brooklyn. The exhibition term is for four weeks. We will provide assistance in administration, press, and sales. There is no production budget or payment of shipping expenses. Curators receive 25% commission on sales.
Kunstraum is born out of a necessity to foster collaboration between artists, architects, curators, designers, filmmakers and writers, and features excellent studio locations, networking, research opportunities and discourse for creative production. After successfully inaugurating our first space in New York as of February 2015, we seek to expand to Berlin.
Kunstraum’s global identity is designed to offer and promote international community, mobility and visibility in the visual arts. Recent press coverage includes Communication Arts, Creator’s Project, Huffington Post, Artnet News, Interview Magazine, Art F City and Artnet News. With Video Shop a project at NADA New York, Kunstraum won 2016 Artfair Goers Award and best booth.
