Vera Matias lives and works in Porto, Portugal.

Her work navigates through painting and drawing, being characterized by a strong sense of materiality. The paint dictates the shape and a spontaneous process emerges with rules redefined at all times.

Graduated in Set Design, she also completed master's degree in Art Theory and Criticism (Artistic Studies) from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. In 2018, she co-founded a multidisciplinary art collective, which was a finalist for the Novo Banco Revelation Award in the same year. In the past few years, her practice developed in painting and she has been participating in several collective and solo shows. Her work takes part in the Municipal Collection of Contemporary Art (Porto) and a few private collections.
